IT Project Manager

Job Summary

If so, there is an immediate opening for an IT Project Manager for the University of Utah Data Coordinating Center (DCC). The mission of the DCC is to accelerate the translation of research to bedside.
This position will be responsible for planning and execution of projects assigned by the IT Manager of the IT Project Management Office and IT Director. The Project Manager will work with a cross-functional team, which includes program directors, administrative staff, report developers, statisticians, data managers, IT staff and other project stakeholders. Typical projects include new initiatives and implementation of new technologies. This position will report to the IT Manager. This position is listed as hybrid meaning the selected candidate would need to live local or be willing to relocate to the Salt Lake City area.

Responsibilities
Responsible for the coordination and completion of projects within the information technology department.

Essential Functions
  • Set deadlines, assign responsibilities, and monitor and summarize progress of projects
  • Think creatively about solutions to technical and non-technical problems
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Facilitate effective meetings that produce clear action and consensus
  • Ensure that project plan is consistent with project design and requirements
  • Build trusting relationships within and beyond the IT Team to achieve the goals and contribute to the success of the Utah DCC.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) and 4-6 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Preferences
Preferred skills include:
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Master's degree in a related area may be preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practical application of Project Lifecycle Methodologies
  • Strong analytical, leadership, problem solving, organizational, and planning skills
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written
  • Experience with JIRA, MS Project, Tableau Reporting
  • Background in project management and strategic planning skills
