Principal Investigator Leticia Marteleto is seeking a new Assistant Project Manager to oversee the logistics of the overall project.

Job Description

As part of the "Demographic Consequences of the Zika Epidemic in Brazil" (DZC) project funded by the NIH (grant 1R01HD091257-01A1) at the Population Studies Center, University of Pennsylvania, we are conducting a longitudinal research study about the consequences of the Zika and Covid-19 epidemics for women and their children in Brazil. The study involves maintaining respondents on the panel and recruiting new respondents between the ages of 18-34 in the Brazilian state of Pernambuco.

The Population Studies Center (PSC) at the University of Pennsylvania (Penn) has fostered research and training in population since 1962, with support from the NICHD P30 program from 1978-2003 and the P2C Population Dynamics Research Infrastructure Program from 2018 to present (formerly the R24 funding mechanism from 2003-2018). Our goal is to remain a national and world leader in research on the growth and structure of human populations and on the role of socioeconomic stratification and human and social diversity on the health of populations. The PSC is characterized by strong continuity in the production of high-quality research on demography, population-based studies of health and human development, and behavioral and social science approaches to sexually transmitted diseases and reproductive health.

Responsibilities
  • Assist PI to manage project budget, purchases, track expenditures, service agreements, and purchase orders, including national and international contracts; communicate with the senior financial manager at SAS about these items.
  • Keep track of contractual and logistical operations through project timelines
  • Collaborate with PI to prepare texts, reports (including NIH reports), and presentations, and to publicize the project's results.
  • Develop and maintain IRB protocols at Penn; assist Brazilian collaborators with IRB documents for Brazil's IRB
  • Assist Principal Investigator with clerical tasks, including meetings with collaborators and external groups, such as advisory board meetings.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • At least 2 years of experience working in research or related field, post-Bachelor's

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Interest in research in international contexts.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing reports and presentations.
  • Experience with Zotero.
  • Experience with Portuguese or Spanish.


This position is Temporary and is expected to be between 20-30 hours/week.
