Job Description

The Clark County AmeriCorps 4-H Grows Here Project is posting for Volunteer positions.

4-H STEM Educator, AmeriCorps Members

The 4-H STEM Educator AmeriCorps Members will facilitate workshops at community centers, libraries, schools, and other locations to deliver educational lessons and attract youth and families through hands-on STEM learning opportunities to build excitement and desire to participate in long-term programming via 4-H community clubs. Once youth and families are established 4-H members, the STEM Educators will work closely with 4-H Adult/Parent Leader AmeriCorps Members to enhance STEM learning and facilitate STEM projects within clubs. They will also work closely with 4-H Community Development AmeriCorps Members when their STEM expertise is needed. Members will also work with Extension staff in spearheading the inaugural 4-H STEM Summit, a full-day, interactive conference. The conference will serve as an opportunity for youth to develop their STEM and soft skills needed for success in post-secondary education and the workplace.

Service hour commitment: 675 hrs

Living allowance: $7,752

4-H Community Development, AmeriCorps Members

The 4-H Community Development AmeriCorps Members will facilitate 4-H workshops at community centers, libraries, schools, and other locations to deliver 4-H curriculum and lessons, and also develop relationships that will eventually lead to long-standing 4-H clubs and/or Special Interest (SPIN) programming. Youth who participate in 4-H clubs are four times more likely to give back to their communities, two times more likely to make healthier choices, and two times more likely to participate in STEM activities, according to national research. Members will lead the development and initial chartering of 4-H clubs. They will build the infrastructure within the club by recruiting members and volunteers within the surrounding community who will eventually serve as club leaders or SPIN leaders.

Service hour commitment: 900 hrs

Living allowance: $5,952
