POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Earth Research Institute at the University of California, Santa Barbara, seeks an Assistant Project Scientist to develop mathematical models describing the ecology and evolution of organisms and biological communities. The project scientist will initially work with Professor Holly Moeller (Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Biology) on models of acquired metabolism, such as dynamic energy budget models, optimal control models, and community dynamic models. The project scientist will be expected develop and analyze these models, including programming (in a computer language such as MATLAB, Python, or Mathematica) and statistical analysis of model fits to data. However, future collaborations, including with other faculty at UCSB, may be possible depending on funding and interest.

The project scientist is expected to make significant and creative contributions to research, and to present their work and author papers describing their work. The project scientist will also have the opportunity to develop additional collaborations with other faculty at UCSB, depending on funding availability and interest.
