Position description
The Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for an Assistant Project Scientist position. The Montell lab at the University of California is seeking a scientist who has a broad range of knowledge and competency in Drosophila. The Assistant Project Scientist will play a significant role in conducting research for a creative project . The project concerns studying molecular mechanisms of cell movement in Drosophila ovarian development. The scientist will design and conduct experiments to interrogate the functions of the spliceosome, innexin proteins, and microtubule post translational modifications in collective border cell migration. The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching and service as appropriate to the position.
Qualifications
PhD in Biology at the time of application.
At least five years of postdoctoral experience with Drosophila molecular genetic.
Experience in Image processing with Image J, preparation of figures for publication
