POSITION DESCRIPTION
A position is available in the laboratory of Prof. Dr. Songi Han to conduct research on advancing the magnetic resonance spectroscopy frontier and the study of the folding and aggregation of the protein tau to fibril structures and motifs of relevance to neurodegenerative diseases. A combination of dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP)-enhanced nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) tools will be used for the structural biology of the tau protein in its intrinsically disordered state, upon forming soluble assemblies, and as packed into organized fibrils. The appointee will used advanced DNP-NMR, EPR and other advanced biophysical tools to elucidate the biophysical and biochemical mechanism of tau aggregation. The applicant is expected to conduct and lead multi-PI collaborations, advise students, and help manage multiple projects that fall into the topic of biological magnetic resonance. The appointee will be expected to make significant conceptual contributions to the project.

The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and service as appropriate to the position.
