About the Opportunity:

Northeastern University's Bachelor of Science in Project Management program within the College of Professional Studies is seeking candidates for a 12-month, open-rank, non-tenure track, renewable faculty position at our Boston campus. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching online and on-ground courses at our Boston Campus and for supporting the Program Lead in growing the program. A successful candidate must demonstrate strong teaching abilities and a dedication to continued improvement as an educator.

Responsibilities:

This full-time faculty member is expected to bring their intellectual and creative capacity to bear in the advancement of the program, seeking to serve students by participating in a range of teaching and non-teaching activities. The ideal candidate will have a record demonstrating their expertise and engagement in the project management profession.

This position will have a full teaching load spread throughout the year and will teach courses such as
  • Project Management Fundamentals - Project Initiation and Close
  • Project Planning
  • Leading Agile Projects
  • Quality and Risk
  • Program and Project Portfolio Management


Faculty enjoy a collegial work environment that allows for work-life balance and are expected to be available to students as needed.

Teaching & Curricular Oversight (approximately 80% of time)
  • Teach online and on-campus courses.
  • In conjunction with the Program Lead, develop and implement course learning outcomes, curriculum maps, content selection, syllabi templates, and updated course materials, including campus-specific coursework as desired.
  • Oversee the instruction of specific courses within the curriculum including mentoring part-time instructors and advising on syllabi
  • Identify and provide recommendations to keep the curriculum relevant and industry-leading.


Teaching and actual course load may vary with other responsibilities, which include, but are not limited to:

Scholarship and Service to the University (approximately 20% of time)
  • Participate in program and faculty meetings as applicable.
  • Serve on committees that support the mission of the program and the vision of the College and wider University.
  • Participate in student recruitment efforts.


Qualifications:

The successful candidate must demonstrate strong teaching abilities and a dedication to continued improvement as an educator. Experience teaching at the undergraduate levels, developing and teaching in-person and online curricula, and proven success in working with diverse student bodies.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and characteristics:
  • A terminal degree from an accredited institution in Project Management or a related field.
  • 7+ years of professional and/or teaching experience in project, product, program, or portfolio management.
  • An active Project (PMP), Business Analysis (CBAP), Program (PgMP), Product (CPM), Agile (ACP) credential, or similar.
  • Demonstrated commitment to mentoring students early in their careers and college journeys.
  • Experience with online and in-person course development, facilitation, and innovative use of technology to support learning.
  • Commitment to working collaboratively across programs.
